Code of the Creative

THE CODE OF THE CREATIVE

The act of creation is inherently communal, as every artist draws inspiration, techniques, and knowledge from the collective wellspring of human creativity.

Therefore, artists have a moral obligation to nurture and support this wellspring by uplifting one another, ensuring its sustainability and vibrancy for future generations.

Under the Code of the Creative, the moral obligation for artists to support other artists is rooted in their shared dependence on and contribution to the creative ecosystem. By lifting one another, artists honor the communal nature of their craft and help sustain the beauty, diversity, and vitality of human expression.

Generative A.I.

Technology has always been a double-edged sword when it comes to the Creative. We're sure when the first pencil (assuredly a technological advancement) arrived on the scene, it caused ripples for folks using charred wood or dip pens.

Generative AI (as opposed to AI which has been around for generations) has been and will continue to be a democratizing force in filmmaking - it allows smaller film-makers to be able to achieve effects and productions previously outside of their resources.

But, like any other tool, Generative AI can be misused or used in an exploitative manner, especially by those who seek nothing but unlimited power and/or driven purely by financial greed. Our commitment (and being consistent with the Code of the Creative) is to use Generative AI to achieve results that would be prohibitive when taking into account the budgetary restraints consistent with a smaller independent production company.

However, even while using Generative AI, we will continue to give those creatives who are at risk (economically-speaking) the platform and the opportunity to still participate in our productions. And when those projects earn profit, they will share in that profit. AND...that as our potential for larger production budgets grows, we will employ those at-risk creatives with equitable UP-FRONT compensation. Though there is a philosophical (even moral) justification for our stance, there is a more important reason...

we ABSOLUTELY thrive and are nourished when engaging with

a talented team of human beings!

Even as the pencil became ubiquitous, even in this 21st Century of inexpensive home laser printers, NOTHING can replace the feel, look, or...soul of a talented and/or hard-working calligrapher's work.

There is no reason why we can't create great film AND reality experiences, support talented cast and crew, while making the world a better place for everyone!
